The McKay Years

Mr Ian McKay, Principal 2011 - current


Mr Ian McKay was appointed Principal
in January 2011.

Key progress during Mr McKay’s principalship included:

•  restructuring of the College to better cater for the developmental needs of students at each stage in their development

    Early Years (Kinder and Preschool)

    Junior Years (Prep - Year 4)

    Middle Years (Years 5-8)

    Senior Years (Year 9-12)

•  introduction of a Year 9 specific program, KIng’s Connect, 

•  introduction of a 1 to 1 iPad program in Years 7-9

•  the expansion of the Early Years Centre with an additional classroom and an expanded outdoor learning area

•  establishment of the Interact Club of King’s College sponsored by Rotary International

•  enhanced Art Exhibition including introducing an annual Art Acquisition

•  the establishment of the only school Pipes and Drums Band in the south west and its continued development

•  the continued development of  our music program including the establishment of a concert band, jazz band and strings ensemble.

•  the development of a structured student leadership program

• the continued development of our performing arts program with our College productions being pre-eminent in our district (Les Miserable and Lion King in 2016 both excellent examples)

•  King’s became members of School Sport Victoria providing additional opportunities 

•  significantly increased use of technology for student learning and College administration
