King's Advantage - Design Technology Pathways
The innovation of Design Technology is highly valued at King's College; students learn to select and apply spatial and numerical concepts and techniques, whilst using the technologies for handling information, in order to locate, obtain, evaluate, manipulate, publish and share information.
We lead students on a learning journey that encourages them to make use of technologies, both individually and collaboratively, and developing technologies by adaption. From Year 6 to 8 students study food tech, woodwork, textiles and electronics. Students then have the opportunity to select a Technology subject as a Major or Minor subject in Year 9 and 10.
All students in Year 9 undertake a Vocational Experience program which gives them exposure to a subsequent range of technology subjects. Students can also access vocationally focused technology courses as part of the VET in Schools program from Year 10.
